About Me

I am a fully qualified and registered nutritional therapist with BANT, British Association of Nutritional Therapists and CNHC, Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. I am also a fully registered Shiatsu Practitioner with the Shiatsu society.

As a teenager I had digestive problems which I just could not resolve through medication. My father was permanently on multiples of pills for bi polar depression and my mother also suffered from depression. I knew there must be a better way and as a teenager I started trying other therapies starting with homeopathy. As a natural process I eventually found nutritional therapy. My digestion is stronger than ever now and I know why!

Working with Alzheimer’s

After years of struggle with depression my mother eventually got Alzheimer’s disease and type 2 diabetes. I have since found out that Alzheimer’s disease is known also as type 3 diabetes, referring to diabetes of the brain.

As my grandmother also had Alzheimer’s disease, I decided to see if I had the gene for it. As I suspected, I did, as have a number of my colleagues. I have found genetic testing to be an invaluable tool in nutritional therapy as it can forewarn of potential problems ahead, apart from giving us the road map to our fundamental DNA.

Thankfully, there is mounting evidence from the studies carried out by a number of neurologists, that optimal diet and good lifestyle habits play a major part in protecting against Alzheimer’s.

You may say what about genetic susceptibility then? Yes, genes do play their part, but as in the case of Alzheimer’s and many other chronic conditions, it has been found that diet and lifestyle have a much bigger loading than genetics.
